3 Tips For Battling Jetlag

Traveling has many positive things that will make you feel great following your trip.  A great vacation can be just what the doctor ordered to make you feel refreshed, reinspired, and ready to take on the world.  It is a chance to enjoy wonderful food, see friends, enjoy beautiful sights and locations, and kick back and relax.

One of the setbacks that can come with travel overseas, however, is having to adjust to different time zones.  When you go from one timezone to another your internal clock is thrown off and you feel tired when you are supposed to be awake, and awake when you should be sleeping.  When your body gets day and night mixed up it can be hard on your body!  In order to avoid this, try using the following tips for avoiding jet lag and take control.

Take Medication

Sometimes taking medication can be the best option for making sure that your sleep cycle gets back to a normal state.  Visiting your doctor and getting a prescription for something that will help you sleep will be the best way to make sure that in the worst case scenario you will have the tools you need to be able to sleep.

It is important to remember that any sort of medication that you take should come by the recommendation of a doctor as they can be extremely dangerous and taking too much can lead to serious health issues and addiction.

Sleep On The Plane

In order to adjust yourself to the time zone which you will be traveling to you should try to sleep on the plane in order to switch your body into making the flip from nighttime to daytime.

Try to sleep as much as you can and this way you will wake up at your destination refreshed and feeling more ready to take on a different time zone on the planet. Bring whatever you will need to make sure that you have a good night’s sleep.  A pillow. A blanket. Your medication. Whatever it takes to get some good shut-eye.

Stay Awake As Long As You Can

When you get to your location you will want to make sure that you don’t go directly to sleep as soon as you feel tired unless it is during the nighttime hours of that particular place.  If you keep giving into when your body wants to be asleep then you will never adjust to the new time zone.

Some places can be more difficult than others getting into the swing of things.  You’ll want to make sure that you are patient with your body and allow at least one day for adjustment for every hour difference from your regular time zone.
